Cookie Policy
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. This page explains exactly which ones Money-Wise uses, what each does, and the choices you have.
Effective and last updated: 19 August 2026
At a glance
Money-Wise uses a small number of first-party cookies that make the site work, and no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies at all. One optional Google cookie appears only if you choose to translate the site.
Essential cookies
These are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off. They are set by Money-Wise and are never shared for advertising.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in and remembers what you are doing between pages, such as an assessment in progress. | 2 hours |
| Security token | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery so that only you can submit actions from your session. | 2 hours |
| Remember me | Keeps you signed in across visits, only if you tick remember me when logging in. | Until you log out |
Functional cookies you opt into
If you use the translate option, Google sets a cookie named googtrans on this site to remember the language you chose. It appears only after you pick a language and you can remove it any time by switching back to English or clearing your browser cookies. Your accessibility and cookie preferences are stored in your browser's local storage, not as cookies, and never leave your device.
Analytics cookies, only if you accept
We measure how the site is used in two ways. First, our own first-party analytics, things like which tools are opened and where members get stuck; that data stays on our servers and is never sold or shared for advertising. Second, if you choose Accept all on the cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier. These help us understand which pages people visit and how they found us. They last up to 13 months and are not set at all if you choose Essential only. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google's privacy policy for how they handle it. No advertising networks run on this site.
Your choices
You can accept all cookies or essential only using the banner shown on your first visit; your choice is remembered on your device. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site, such as sign in and checkout, from working. To change a previous choice, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will appear again.
For how we handle personal information more broadly, see our Privacy Policy. Questions are welcome at sema@moneywise.co.ke.
